If you saw our ad, you saw the opening. This page is the close look: where the channel runs, what does the supporting around it, which way round it goes, the chairs it doesn't suit, and what it costs to try it at home for 60 days.
One thing first: if your chair already suits you and sitting doesn't bother you, you don't need this. It's for the chair you're keeping, or can't replace: a hard office chair, the kitchen table on remote days, a work chair that isn't yours to change.
The flat-seat problem, in one paragraph
A flat seat meets you everywhere, including right under the base of your spine. More padding makes it softer, but the padding still sits directly under the same spot. A folded towel or a thicker pad changes how soft the first hour feels. It doesn't change where you make contact.
Space under: the channel
Turn the cushion round and you'll see the difference. The U-channel doesn't stop in the middle like the hole in a ring. It runs out through the rear edge. Sit all the way back and the tailbone area is over that opening instead of foam, with nothing closing the gap behind you.

Why not a ring? Coccyx.org, a long-running patient-information site, points out that ring cushions were designed for a different pressure point, not the tailbone. A ring is closed all the way round; this channel stays open behind you. Cut-out shapes don't suit everyone, though, and that's exactly what the 60-day home trial is for.
Support around: the raised zones
An opening under the tailbone area only works if there's something to sit on around it. That's the job of the rest of the shape: raised zones either side of the channel at the back, a broad sculpted surface in the middle, and a lower front that sits under your thighs. Space under, support around.
Press it
It's slow-rebound memory foam. Press your palm into it and hold: it gives way slowly and shapes to your hand instead of pushing back. Lift your hand and the dent fills back in. That tells you how the material feels, not how it will hold up over years, which we won't promise without data.

Which way round, and on which chair
- 1The open channel goes at the back, against the backrest, centred left to right.
- 2Sit all the way back, so the tailbone area lines up with the opening.
- 3The lower front sits under your thighs.
- 4Use it on a broad, stable chair seat. It isn't for narrow or deeply bucketed seats, and it isn't designed for car seats.

Two things to check on day one
Any cushion raises you a little. Sit at your desk and check that your feet still rest flat and your legs still fit underneath; if not, lower the chair. Then sit, lean back, stand up and sit again. On smooth leather or flexible mesh a cushion can move, so check it stays where you put it. If either check fails on your chair, that's what the return label is for.

What we can't tell you yet
We don't list exact dimensions, firmness or foam density, because the maker hasn't given us numbers we'd stand behind. So compare the photos with your chair, or email info@ergola.co with your chair model and we'll check the fit before you order. And use the trial properly: full workdays, not twenty minutes.
When a cushion is the wrong buy
A cushion changes how you make contact with the seat. It doesn't treat what's causing pain. See a doctor or physiotherapist before buying anything if the pain is severe, getting worse, or not easing after a few weeks; if it started after a fall or injury; or if you have numbness, tingling or weakness in a leg or foot. Numbness around the groin or changes in bladder or bowel control need urgent medical care.
What it costs to find out
One cushion is $49.99 plus $5.95 US shipping. Two are $89.98 ($44.99 each) and three are $119.98 ($39.99 each), both with free US shipping. If you sit in more than one place (a desk, a kitchen chair, a work chair), the second cushion is the cheaper way to cover both. Orders dispatch in 1–2 business days; US delivery typically takes 5–7 business days after dispatch. Every cushion has a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.
- 1You have 60 days from delivery to try it on your own chair.
- 2Not right? Email info@ergola.co and we send a prepaid return label within 1 business day.
- 3Once the return arrives and is checked, the product price is refunded within 3–5 business days.
- 4The one charge we don't refund is the original delivery: $5.95 on a single cushion. Two or three cushions ship free.

Before you order
Is this the cushion from the ad?
Yes. The cream-top, grey-sided cushion with the open rear channel is the one we sell on the Memory Foam Seat Cushion page, at the same prices.
Which way round does it go?
The open channel goes at the back, against the backrest, centred left to right. The lower front sits under your thighs.
Will it fit my chair?
It's made for broad, stable chair seats. Exact measurements aren't published yet, so compare the photographed footprint with your seat, or email info@ergola.co with your chair model.
Does memory foam flatten?
We don't publish foam density yet, so we won't promise how it holds up over years. Use it for full workdays during the 60 days; if it bottoms out, send it back on our label. The 1-year warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, not ordinary wear.
Can a cushion fix sciatica?
No. A cushion can change how sitting feels by changing where you make contact with the seat, but it doesn't treat the cause. If you have sciatica or persistent pain, talk to a doctor or physiotherapist.
Can I use it in the car?
No. It isn't designed for car seats, which are usually narrow or bucketed. Anything that changes how you reach the pedals or sit against the backrest isn't safe while driving.
Is there a discount code?
If you join our email list, we email you a code for 10% off a single cushion. Two and three cushions are already priced lower each, so the code doesn't apply to them.
